2022 is a year free from covid-regulations, therefore tourism and travel are more active this year compared to the last two years. Given that the period from autumn to spring is less active for tourism, while the New Year is considered as more attractive for travel. BM.GE was interested in which countries Georgians choose to travel for the New Year, and addressed the travel company Travelfy.
Mariam Dgebuadze, head of the company's sales department, notes that the New Year period is the busiest in tourism and the activity of those wishing to travel has increased.
"European destinations are traditionally popular for the New Year; There is also a high demand on Asia - Maldives, Thailand; Recently, Dubai and Abu Dhabi have become very active. At the same time, a large number of bookings accounts for cruises departing from Europe, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha," Mariam Dgebuadze noted.
According to her, demand has increased by 20% this year compared to the period before the pandemic and Travelfy's head of sales points out that the demand increased on different destinations this year.
"Last year, due to the COVID-regulations, many destinations were still closed. This year the situation has changed and the workload is higher. The direction of Asia is especially active. The population switched to travel after the pandemic and choose foreign destinations, for example Zanzibar, Kenya, other African countries", says Dgebuadze and adds that the cost of tourist packages before and after the pandemic is not much different and has increased slightly.
