The Armenian State Control Service has identified violations in the operations of a company engaged in the wholesale import and distribution of pharmaceuticals. Following an investigation, the company has been fined $497,000 in administrative penalties, according to the agency's press office.

A follow-up inspection, initiated by the head of the State Control Service and conducted by the Health and Labor Inspectorate, revealed the illegal importation of 127 types of medications (over 190,000 packages) and the unauthorized sale of 123 types of drugs (exceeding 160,000 packages).

Interestingly, during the initial inspection in February 2023, no violations warranting administrative penalties were found. However, subsequent analysis of data from informational systems uncovered that the company had been importing batches of pharmaceuticals without the required certificates for drug and substance imports.

To prevent such incidents and eliminate the circulation of substandard and potentially dangerous medications, the head of the State Control Service has proposed that relevant authorities develop additional tools to ensure proper information exchange among agencies coordinating activities in this sector.
