We reduce COVID-related expenditures in the draft budget 2022, as we deeply hope that the vaccination rate will increase and new infection cases will be down,- this is how the Deputy Minister of Finance Giorgi Kakauridze explained the reasons for the reduction of COVID-related expenses to GEL 500 million in the draft budget 2022.
However, Kakauridze notes, if funding increases are needed, then the budget for other programs will be reduced.
"We expect that the number of infected people will decrease. The cost of purchasing vaccines is also included in the budget of GEL 500 million. Also, this amount is enough to treat 250-300 thousand citizens. We deeply hope that the rate of vaccination will increase, while the infection will be down and half a billion GEL will be enough. Otherwise, we will have to reduce the funds allocated for other programs, ”said Giorgi Kakauridze.
