“EU Ambassador was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 9 December and presented the EU position concerning the ongoing events in Georgia”, - this is how the EU Embassy responded to BMG’s question about the initiative of the meeting between Pavel Herczynski and Maka Bochorishvili.
The fact is that only the press service of the Foreign Ministry released information and photo footage about the meeting between the EU Ambassador and the Foreign Minister. The release also noted that “the EU Ambassador expressed concern regarding the ongoing events in Georgia.”
BM.GE also asked the EU Embassy whether the meeting between Pavel Herczynski and Maka Bochorishvili meant recognition of the results of the parliamentary elections, to which we received the following answer:
“For details on the EU position, please see the Statement by the Spokesperson on developments in Georgia issued on 10 December 2022”, - EU Embassy said.
BM.GE also sent a question to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs – why did the EU Ambassador meet with Maka Bochorishvili. BM.GE will inform the details to its readers as soon as the news agency receives a response.
