Will Furniture Prices Rise? Middle East Conflict Puts Pressure on Georgian Market

ავეჯი

Furniture sector representatives say price changes in Georgia will largely depend on how quickly global logistics routes stabilize. Companies note that if supply chains return to normal by late March or April, consumers are unlikely to face significant price increases. However, if disruptions continue beyond April, furniture prices will inevitably rise due to higher transport costs and delayed deliveries.

According to Giorgi Dabrundashvili, General Manager of Ashley Home, the sector is already feeling early pressures. He explains that businesses can temporarily absorb part of the cost increase, but only in the short term. If logistic routes remain disrupted, the market could face the same difficulties seen during the pandemic, when global shipping delays caused months-long setbacks and sharp price hikes.

Local manufacturers also warn about risks. Avto Jangavadze, founder of “Lazieri,” says the Georgian furniture industry is highly dependent on imported raw materials, mainly from the U.S., Europe and Turkey. This makes the sector vulnerable to transport delays and rising shipping costs. Although the company currently has enough inventory, prolonged instability will likely push prices up and extend production timelines.

Despite challenges, “Lazieri” says it is adapting by diversifying supply routes and strengthening local production. Jangavadze notes that Georgia’s growing real estate market creates opportunities for local manufacturers to replace part of the imported furniture segment. The goal, he says, is to maintain high quality, minimize price increases and expand domestic output even amid global uncertainty.
