Since 2005, Teliani Valley Winery has been showcasing its wines in the USA, actively engaging in marketing efforts to carve out a niche for Georgian wines. The USA is a strategically important export market for Teliani Valley, and the assortment offered is specially curated for local wine consumers. These exceptional wines are crafted using both classic and traditional Georgian methods, including fermentation in Qvevri.
Teliani Valley has partnered with Georgian Wine House, a national importing company based in Greater Washington, since 2005. The U.S., being the world's largest wine market, presents both great opportunities and intense competition with wines from all over the globe.
To strengthen its presence in this competitive market, Teliani Valley announced additional investments in 2023 and signed an agreement with Palmateer Consulting LLC, which specializes in assisting wine producers in achieving their distribution goals in the US market. According to Gordon Palmateer, “Palmateer Consulting is proud and honored to assist Teliani Valley Winery to become the benchmark for premium wines from the country of Georgia. They have the right combination of passion, commitment, and resources to achieve their U.S. goals.”
This new agreement enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of Teliani Valley's wine supply in the USA. A new warehouse in California has been established, providing flexibility in distribution and market coverage.
Gary Griggs, who brings several decades of experience in the wine industry, has joined the company as Vice President of U.S. Sales. Under his leadership, distribution continues to grow, and new agreements are being signed. Griggs states, "Our goal is to find the best fit and place Teliani Valley wines with distributors best equipped to build sales in each state. I see great potential for these wines based on the assignments we've made in several states. I'm confident that Teliani Valley will become a market leader, and sales of Georgian wines will continue to grow in the US. We are working closely with them to build as many points of distribution as possible."
The winery is also introducing renewed packaging for the US market under the label "Teliani Vineyards." Both Georgian and American creative agencies collaborated on these visual changes, taking into account insights from local wine experts.
Teliani Vineyards' offerings in the US include Amber Blend, Saperavi, Tsolikouri, Kindzmarauli, and Saperavi Selection. Teliani Valley aims to double its sales in 2024 and continues to promote Georgian wine, striving to make the world a little more Georgian!
