Nearly 200 companies and facilities were inspected as part of Georgia’s wine quality control program during the first seven months of the year, the National Wine Agency reported.
According to the agency, 181 inspections were carried out at 41 companies to verify whether alcoholic beverage batches submitted for certification met quality requirements. Out of 479 samples tested, violations were detected in nine samples from four companies. Meanwhile, state supervision inspections at five companies found no violations among 31 tested samples.
As part of domestic market monitoring, 79 retail and other facilities were inspected, with violations identified in 63 samples from 43 companies. In addition, international audit firms Bureau Veritas and SGS conducted inspections of 60 companies at the customs clearance economic zone, where 11 violations were found among 223 tested samples.
The National Wine Agency said the number of violations has decreased compared with previous years, which it considers evidence of improved effectiveness of the wine quality control system. The agency continues regular inspections of Georgian wine and other alcoholic beverages to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness.
