"Winery Ilia", located in the village of Mukhatgverdi, Mtskheta region, will export its products for the first time to China. The company’s co-founder, Levan Zhvania, spoke about this in an interview with BM.GE.
“We recently completed negotiations with a Chinese partner, we have the documents ready and we are waiting for them to take our wine to China. At the initial stage, they bought 204 bottles. As for the price, Chinese partners pay quite a high price,” Zhvania noted, although he did not specify the cost.
As he stated, their winery has the potential to process more than 20 tons of grapes, however, at this stage only 4 tons of grapes will be processed.
“We buy most of the grapes from farms. And the annual production volume is within 4,000 bottles. We cooperate with winegrowers in the village of Mukhrani, and we also have vineyards. We mainly produce wines from Kartli and Kakheti, such as white grape varieties: Chinui, Goruli Mtsvane, Kakhuri Mtsvane, and red grape varieties: Saperavi, as well as Rkatsiteli and Chinui sepages," he noted.
"Our wine has a 3-year shelf life. Its price is within 155-195 GEL and is sold at the stores of "8000 Vintages." "We also sell it in one of the partner stores in Mtskheta," said the co-founder of the winery.
According to him, in addition to the wine produced under the "Ilia" brand, the company also produces more budget line, which is sold under the name "Erti". Its price on the market ranges from 70 to 100 GEL.
The idea of establishing "Winery Ilia" under the brand "Mtskheta Winery" arose in 2017.
As for future plans, according to Zhvania, in the future it is planned to receive visitors to the winery and offer tasting services.
