Wissol’s CEO Vasil Khorava says the fuel retail market needs stronger regulation to prevent unfair competition and protect consumers. Speaking at a parliamentary commission on pricing, he said the sector remains highly competitive but not all players follow the same rules.
“We see players entering the market unfairly, through misleading consumers or other questionable practices,” Khorava said. He added that stronger oversight is needed to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, especially in infrastructure and service requirements.
Khorava stressed that Wissol is not calling for quotas or market restrictions, but rather stricter enforcement of existing rules. He argued that better regulation would help prevent excessive competition distortions while maintaining a healthy investment environment.
The parliamentary “Price Commission,” established for three months, is currently reviewing pricing mechanisms across sectors, including fuel, pharmaceuticals, and retail, and is expected to issue policy recommendations after completing its consultations.
