Imports of drinking and mineral water to Russia in November 2022 increased by almost 25% compared to October 2022, Russian media reports with reference to the data of the labeling operator of the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT).
"Imports of drinking and mineral water to Russia in November increased by 24.4% compared to the previous month. In the period from November 1 to November 30, almost 23.7 million bottles were imported to Russia, and for the whole of October - just over 19 million," the report says.
"Importers and retail chains began to build up stocks of drinking and mineral water on the eve of the New Year to meet the traditionally high demand. According to our data, about 90% of the total volume of imported water that entered the Russian market in the past few months was accounted for by mineral water," Yulia Kuzmina, the head of the department of excise-free commodity groups of CRPT says.
According to the CRPT, the key exporters of water to Russia in the last three months (September - November) were: Georgia - 71%, Armenia - 10%, Italy - 5%, Kazakhstan - 4% and Slovenia - 3%, the report says.
