Preparatory work for the Black Sea seabed survey is progressing successfully with the support of the World Bank, according to Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
Deputy Minister Inga Pkhaladze met with Rolande Pryce, the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, and her delegation. The parties discussed cooperation under the Energy Security, Energy Interconnection and Renewable Energy Program (ESPIRE), as well as the ongoing development of the Black Sea submarine cable project.
According to the ministry, the meeting highlighted the successful progress of preparatory seabed survey work supported by the World Bank. Discussions covered technical details of the survey, future planned activities, route optimization of the cable, and environmental aspects of the project. The optical fiber component of the submarine cable system was also addressed as an integral part of the initiative.
Representatives of the Georgian State Electrosystem also participated in the meeting, including Board Member Zviad Gachechiladze.
