A working group has been established by the decision of Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Mher Grigoryan, to coordinate the process of visa liberalization with the European Union, as announced by the government’s press service.

The group is part of an interagency commission responsible for implementing agreements between Armenia and the EU and will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Grigoryan himself.

Members include heads of parliamentary committees on European integration and foreign relations, deputy ministers from the ministries of internal affairs, justice, health, and foreign affairs, as well as a number of mid-level officials and parliament members.

It is worth noting that official dialogue on visa liberalization with the EU was launched in September of this year. Achieving this goal requires substantial reforms by the Armenian authorities in key areas.

The conditions include enhancing the security of travel documents, managing border controls, migration, and asylum processes, combating corruption, and ensuring fundamental rights related to freedom of movement.

Preliminary estimates suggest that, with effective efforts, Armenia’s government could meet these requirements within two to four years.
