The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) will be held in Yerevan this year from October 4 to 7 under the theme "The Power of Decentralization: Promise and Peril."
The Congress will feature speeches by renowned speakers, including the author of the international bestseller "How to Raise a Successful Person" Esther Wojcicki, founder of the ABBYY group of companies David Yang, co-founder of Picsart Hovhannes Avoyan, TELUS Chief Technology Officer Ibrahim Gedeon, and others.
Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in panel discussions, B2B meetings, business and innovation exhibitions, workshops, and other events. One of the highlights will be the WITSA World Cup (WWC). In total, around 2,000 delegates from more than 80 countries are expected to visit Armenia.
"The Government of Armenia has declared high-tech and information technology sectors as essential areas for economic development. In this context, we value hosting international technological conferences and events in Armenia as they reaffirm Armenia's significant role on the global technology map by bringing new opportunities to the country," said Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, as reported by "ArmInfo."
WCIT Executive Director Hayk Karapetyan announced that in 2024, WCIT is partnering with DigiTec - the largest tech and innovation event in the region, which annually hosts thousands of technology companies from Armenia and abroad. Consequently, DigiTec will also take place in the Armenian capital during these days.
President of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises Alexander Yesayan noted that the WCIT Congress shapes the future of innovation and technology, and Armenia, as a new technology hub, is the best place to host such an exciting event. "I am confident that both Armenia and WCIT will benefit from this cooperation, and the event will have a significant impact on the further development and promotion of technology worldwide," he said.
The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) was established by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA). Its main organizing body is the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE). The event in Armenia will be held for the second time with the support of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry. Armenia first hosted WCIT in October 2019.
