Funding of $24.6 million is planned for the construction of a new station in Yerevan's metro system in 2025, with the total project estimated at around $50 million.

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced on November 4 plans to expand the capital’s metro system. The construction of "Ajapnyak" station, set to become the 11th station in the Yerevan Metro, is currently undergoing a comprehensive assessment.

The 2025 state budget includes an allocation of $24.6 million for the construction. To complete the project, with a preliminary total cost of $50 million, additional funding from the Eurasian Stabilization and Development Fund and other international donors is being considered.

The project design and cost documentation for the new station are fully prepared, as previously confirmed by the Yerevan municipality. According to the mayor, the contractor will be selected through a tender process in 2025.

“Building large-scale infrastructure projects like this requires careful preparation and significant time. We expect the tender winner for the station’s construction to be determined next year,” stated Tigran Avinyan during his address to parliament.
