We welcome you, Prime Minister of Georgia, Mr. Irakli, here in Brussels. This is your first visit in this capacity. You have arrived in Brussels, and this is a sign that Georgia has chosen the European path very seriously, the High Representative of the European Union, Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell said at the press conference held together with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze and Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi after the 8th session of the Georgia-EU Association Council.
According to him, Georgia and the European Union jointly have an obligation towards the unchanged path, which implies the integration of Georgia into the European Union.
"We welcome you, Prime Minister of Georgia, Mr. Irakli, here in Brussels. This is your first visit in this capacity. You have arrived in Brussels and this is a sign that Georgia has chosen the European path very seriously. This is the first visit as a candidate country. We have moved to a new strategic stage in our relations. This conversation, which we had within the framework of the Association Council, emphasizes that we are jointly committed to the unchanging path that involves the integration of Georgia into the European Union, although the matter is starting now, in your case, and this requires new efforts, increased responsibility on the part of the government, a position, which will be considered by everyone. Every person, every Georgian, every sector should be involved in this process," said Borrell.
