The Master Plan developing company - “City Institute” has received deadline extension till 1st of the June to improve the document and fulfill its obligations. The Mayor of Tbilisi Mr. Kakha Kaladze made this statement after the meeting with “City Institute” representatives. According to the Mayor, from the day one new administration is actively working with the MP developing team to complete the document.

“We involved number of experts from different fields in assessment process. As the result, we received valuable comments and recommendations, which were publicly discussed few days ago. Hence, we came to the conclusion that current version of materials could not be accepted. The concepts – “compact, connected and green city”, presented in first five stages, are acceptable. The City Hall considers critical for conceptual part to be simple and actionable in reasonable time and to be inline with needs of the citizens. These elements should have been presented during the 6th stage” – stated Mr. Kaladze. The Mayor noted that the City Hall is finishing discussions around the MP. All remarks, answers and essential conditions for the work to be accepted are analyzed and acknowledged.

“Based on the fact that the MP is critically important for the Capital and for me as City Mayor, we made decision to allow additional time for “City Institute” to fulfill its obligations. We would provide necessary support for “City Institute” to meet our expectations and present actionable, long-term and quality materials” – stated the Mayor. Aforementioned company began the work on Tbilisi Land Use Master Plan in 2015. It had an obligation to present complete Master Plan by 15 of April 2017. The cost of the service was set at 2 800 000 GEL. The agreement signed with the MP developing team included 6 separate stages: pre-design preparation works; City construction analysis/preparation of current situation; exact technical/design assignment; concept; Land Use Master Plan stage “Project”; Land Use Master Plan final Project.
