Tbilisi Municipality City Hall is preparing to begin construction works for new junction at Tsintsadze and Kartozia Streets crossing in Saburtalo district. The Mayor of Tbilisi Mr. Kakha Kaladze visited the site to inspect preparation woks.

According to the Mayor, similar infrastructural projects are very important to decongest the traffic in the City. In the scope of dendrological initiative, there are plans to plant 140 trees in the area.

“This project has two phases and will last for 5 months. Its overall cost will amount to 2.7 million GEL. First phase of the project is new junction, which will be followed by refurbishment of Tamarashvili junction. The City faces traffic related big challenges and similar infrastructural projects are one of the measures aimed at improving the situation. In the scope of dendrological project, there are plans to plant 140 trees in the area. Relevant works are already underway. We would make all necessary arrangements to replant existing trees in the area. We have mobilized required technical support to implement these measures. Trees that cannot be replanted will be cut down” – stated Mr. Kaladze.

In the scope of the project, two-level junction will be arranged, which would facilitate safe and free movement of the transport on aforementioned streets. The project will help to decongest the traffic and reduce commute time in central part of Saburtalo District.

Deputy Mayor Irakli Bendeliani, Head of Saburtalo District and Members of Tbilisi City Assembly also visited the site.

“Construction works on this scale always require certain traffic restrictions. We are actively cooperating with Patrol Police to solve the problems with joint efforts” – stated Mr. Bendeliani.

Due to construction works at Tsintsadze and Kartozia Streets crossing, the traffic will be temporarily restricted and public and private transport movement schemes will be altered – traffic towards the crossing from Tsintsadze Street will be moved in right direction to Kartozia Street and straight ahead towards Tamarashvili Street; the turn towards Amirejibi highway will be restricted. Instead, traffic from Tsintsadze Street towards Amirejibi highway and Bakhtrioni Street will be able to turn left at first crossing on Vladimer and Archil Asatiani Street.

Also, only vehicles of local residents will be aloud to enter Kartozia Street from Kazbegi Avenue.

Due to restrictions on Kartozia Street, public transport – N92 bus and N27, 50, 81 and N100 microbuses will pass Tamarashvili Street, then turn towards Vladimer and Archil Asatiani Street by former hippodrome and after continue on their usual route.
