We cannot afford unused economic assets and opportunities, and this is exactly what our initiative addresses by proposing to write off the tax debt accrued in 2011-2012 by companies forced to terminate their commercial activities because of this debt, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated during today's briefing.

The relevant Tax Code amendments were approved by today's Government meeting.

According to the Prime Minister, most of the debts were accrued in 2011-2012 but, in order to maintain the systemic approach, a decision was made to write off the tax debts accrued by companies that were forced to terminate their activities because of these debts.
"I believe that this step will reinvigorate these companies, enabling them to create jobs and return to active economic work," Mamuka Bakhtadze said.
