Ekaterine Miqabadze, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, stated that in 2017, the largest foreign direct investment was implemented in the transport and communications sectors and amounted to 527.1 million USD, which is the 28.3% of the total DFI. The financial sector with 304.3 million USD (16.3%) is on the second position and is followed by the construction with 294.6 million USD (15.8%). According to GEOSTAT, the largest portions of the implemented DFI fall to Azerbaijan (25.9% - 482.1 million USD), Turkey (15.0% - 279.0 million USD) and the United Kingdom (13.4% - 250.4 million USD).
“Georgian Government is actively working on further perfection of the investment and business environment, structural improvement of economy and increasing competitiveness of the private sector,” – Ekaterine Mikabadze, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said. According to her, the economic reforms in the country, including the tax and small and medium-sized business reforms, together with the existing Free Trade Agreements will further enhance the attractiveness of our country and create even more favorable conditions for expanding operations and expanding business activities.
