The Georgian National Communications Commission gave its preliminary consent to JSC Silknet to buy 100% share of Geocel, Ltd. Concerning the purchase of Geolcel 100% share by Silknet, by the decision of 6th February 2018, the Commission has started administrative proceedings. Within the framework of the above proceedings, corresponding service of the Commission conducted multi-stage research and analysis of the market for the purpose of comprehensive inquiry. Based on the results of the research, the Commission ruled that, taking into consideration the obligations taken over by the parties, there are no grounds for not giving the preliminary consent to purchasing of 100% of Geocel by Silknet company.
Regardless the fact that the market analysis did not reveal any impeding circumstances for the above transaction, the National Communications Commission imposed number of obligations on Geocel and Silknet, for the sake of protection of interests of clients, subscribers and authorized competitor entities.
