In 10M2022, 852,926 visitors visited the Protected Areas of Georgia.

According to the agency, the number of visitors during this period was 56% higher than last year, but compared to 2019, these numbers show a 75% recovery, which means that compared to the pre-pandemic period, national parks were visited by 25% fewer visitors.

The majority of visitors - 54% (458,557) are citizens of foreign countries, therefore 46% accounted for the visits made by Georgians.

The National Environmental Protection Agency notes that the travel prices to the protected areas have not changed this year and their cost starts from GEL 5.

"At present, all protected areas host visitors. As for the entrance fee, there are several areas, including Martvili Canyon, Sataplia, Prometheus Cave, Tsalka Canyon and others, where the cost of the visit starts from GEL 5. Residents of Georgia enjoy the corresponding discount. The visit to the rest of the territory is free, but there are paid services, such as almshouse services in the Kolkheti National Park, the rope park attraction in the Algeti National Park, and others," the agency notes.

As for the income received from visitors, the Agency of Protected Areas says that the income received from tourism in the country is reported by the National Tourism Administration and is not counted separately.
