Armenian agricultural sector declined by 0.7% in 2022, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told the parliament.

"We have the biggest problem in agriculture, because we recorded a 0.7% decline in 2022. I want to say the following: the only way to reverse the fall is to develop intensive agriculture," Pashinyan said.

He noted that traditional agriculture has no future and in conditions of global warming there will not be enough water for irrigation in the same volume.

"Hence, it is necessary to switch to intensive gardening which allows irrigating 10 times more territory with the same volume of water," Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister said that by the end of 2022, agreements were signed to establish 2,450 hectares of intensive orchards in the country, ARKA reports.
