Dried fruit exports from Georgia up by 58.7%

Dried fruit exports from Georgia exceed imports. According to the official data, dried fruit exports from Georgia were up by 58.7% last year. In particular, the cost of 610.3 t dried fruit amounted to 1,9 million USD (the cost of 423,2 t dried fruit made up 1.2 million USD in 2019).

In addition, Georgia purchased 400.2 tons of dried plums, apricots and apples worth 792.5 thousand USD in 2020, which is 23.2% less compared to 2019.

As for exporting countries, the largest quantities of dried fruits were exported last year to Germany, Russia and China.

The list of exporting markets:

1. Germany - 1.0 million USD, 298.4 tons;
2. Russia - 484.3 thousand USD, 120.7 tons;
3. China - 161.6 thousand USD, 81.7 tons;
4. Armenia - 53.2 thousand USD, 35.9 tons;
5. Lithuania - 50.6 thousand USD, 7.5 tons;
6. Czech Republic - 43.4 thousand USD, 21.7 tons;
7. Japan - 25.2 thousand USD, 2 tons;
8. Ukraine - 19.2 thousand USD, 14.1 tons;
9. Latvia - 15.7 thousand USD, 1 ton;
10. Poland - 15.4 thousand USD, 1 ton.

According to Geostat, the top ten export markets for dried fruits in 2019 were the US ($ 29.9 thousand), Turkey ($ 18.5 thousand) and Israel ($ 18.2 thousand), which were replaced by China, Japan and Lithuania in 2020.

It worth noting, that in January-February 2021, 154.1 tons of dried fruits worth 605.0 thousand USD were exported from the country (197.1 thousand USD, 64.8 tons in January-February 2020) and the growth amounted to 206.9%.
