Each reform, program and project planned by us aims to bring prosperity to people, improve their living conditions and wellbeing. What is most important, they will ultimately strengthen our country. It was stated by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia in his speech delivered at the presentation of a 10-Year Development Plan of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, one of the most important institutions in the country and government is the Ministry of Justice. It is oriented at the delivery of the available services to citizens of Georgia at large.

"We are presenting a development plan of the Ministry of Justice today. We have launched a series of presentations to showcase a long-term vision. We are thus explaining to the general public what we plan in the coming years, how we envisage the development of our country. Every reform, program or project planned by us is of course aimed at bringing prosperity to people, their improved living conditions and wellbeing. What is most important, they will ultimately strengthen our country, of course.

Before the Minister of Justice presents his vision, I wish to note that Rati started to work with great success at the Ministry together with his team by designing utterly interesting novelties, projects and ideas, which will be presented in detail today.

I wish to say very briefly that the Ministry of Justice is one of the most important institutions in the country, within the government. It is oriented at the delivery of the available services to citizens of Georgia at large. We also plan - and the Minister will elaborate on this - to fully substitute the outdated soviet legislation still existing in the current reality. Our aim should be to have a modern legal framework in full compliance with that of the EU, instead of the soviet legacy" stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

As Irakli Garibashvili noted, it is planned to implement very important reforms and initiatives, which are aimed at the delivery of services to the citizens of the country in a more comfortable setting, at their places of residence, in every municipality and village.

"Our team in the Government of Georgia did a lot towards this end. We are advancing the concept of the Houses of Justice, building Community Centers in every municipality and this project is progressing consistently. In addition, the Minister has a plan to have Houses of Justice built in every municipality, including every district of Tbilisi.

We have serious ambitions towards this end and wish to deliver digital services to our citizens, so that they benefit from this mechanism without leaving their desk - whether at home or in the office. Any service offered at the House of Justice will thus be just a click away. Of course, it will be very comfortable for our citizens" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

The Head of Government of Georgia also focused on the penitentiary institutions.

"Utterly interesting ideas are voiced by Rati in relation with penitentiary institutions. Conditions at prisons were problematic and had to face a challenge of torture and inhuman treatment when we came to power in 2012. It used to be a routine practice at prisons, but we eradicated it as soon as we got elected. Today we have an exemplary situation at the penitentiary institutions nation-wide, thus being among the leading countries of Europe and worldwide" stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

A 10-Year Development Plan was presented by Rati Bregadze, Minister of Justice. Event was attended by a Chairperson of the Supreme Court, members of the executive and legislative authorities of the country, diplomatic corps and experts.
