Distinguishing any country would be an incorrect political message. There should be an equal and united approach, said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili when speaking about the EU’s anticipated decision over granting Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova the EU candidate country status.

Papuashvili believes that the EU should not weigh its decision.

“We have been hearing about different models, recently. We see that making a positive decision toward the three countries is under a question mark. Even the experts find it difficult to make a prognosis. The only thing I have heard these days and during my visit to Brussels is that distinguishing any country would be an incorrect political message. There should be an equal and united approach especially by taking into account the moment when the decision is made in an expedited mode, it would not be correct and fair on part of the EU,” Papuashvili said.

Georgian Parliament Speaker added that all three countries of the Associated Trio necessitate expression of political solidarity that should be a political message for Russia.

“I am sure Europe will make the decision based on the values of solidarity, support that will also serve as a bold message for Russia,” the Speaker said.
