Georgia has reported 586 new Covid cases and 605 recoveries during the week of May 16-22, reads the recent data published by the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC).

Five cases of coronavirus-related fatalities have been reported during this period. The virus has killed 16,827 people since the pandemic broke out.

According to the NCDC, a total of 113,058 tests were administered (103,058 antigen tests, 10,568 PCR tests). As for the positivity rate, it stood at 0.52% for seven days. Omicron B.A.2 strain is predominantly circulating in Georgia.

For several weeks now, the government has stopped publishing coronavirus statistics on a daily basis, and it is only published once a week.
