Beka Gonashvili, the founder of company Agrokiziki says that interest from Gulf Countries in Georgian sheep is quite high, but expensive transportation creates problems. According to him, the company participated in Gulfood international exhibition, where they received a good feedback.

"Our company exports sheep and meat, we were presented with this product at Gulfood exhibition. Such international exhibitions are very important for the development of our exports. Due to the fact that last year the activity on live sheep was relatively low, this year we want to offset this situation.

The main obstacle in this process is still transportation, there is no direct way, so we have started transportation by land through Iraq, which, of course, takes a long time. Transporation cost amouts to USD 100 per ship by plane, while USD 50 - by land", - says Beka Gonashvili.

The founder of Agrokiziki says that another hindering factor in the exports of Georgian sheep is the low price of Turkish sheep, which competes with Georgian products.

Agrokiziki exports 50% of the produced meat, as for live sheep, the rate stands at 70%.
