In 11M2022, Georgia received an income of USD 21 million from the exports of live sheep and goats. In total, 7,505 tons of goods were sold from the country.
According to official statistics, the exports of live sheep decreased by 18.1% in January-November compared to the same period of last year, while last year the income from the sheep sale hit a record high for the last 10 years and amounted to USD 25.6 million (8 157 tons).
The main sheep export markets for Georgia are Arab countries. As a result, in 11M2022, the goods went to 6 countries in total. these are:
1. Azerbaijan - USD 11.3 million, 4 913 tons;
2. Saudi Arabia - USD 5.6 million, 1 324 tons;
3. United Arab Emirates - USD 1.5 million, 358 tons;
4. Egypt - USD 1.2 million, 350 tons;
5. Jordan - USD 1.1 million, 473 tons;
6. Qatar - USD 294 thousand, 85 tons.
Sheep sales from Georgia merely increased by 100% in Azerbaijan y-o-y. In such a major export market as Saudi Arabia, exports of goods decreased by 69%. In 11M2021, the income from the exports of sheep from this direction alone was USD 18.1 million.
