“The past seven years have shown that serious investors do not trust the government of Georgian Dream. Therefore, any new government plan or promise is just empty words and lies," said Gigla Mikautadze, a member of Lelo.
According to Lelo, operating of the agency Produce in Georgia is ineffective.
“Investments in the country are shrinking y-o-y and agency Produce in Georgia is responsible for that along with the other agencies. Direct function of the agency is to increase the country's awareness and work with potential investors. FDI for the three quarters of 2019 is down 17% from comparing to the same period of 2018, and down by 37% comparing to 2017.
The agency's work is ineffective in other directions as well. For example, the Butaphoric Credit Guarantee Fund program, which must increase access to finance for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, does not actually work. The fund allegedly accumulated 20 million GEL, so far no company has been funded. The fact is that the agency spends tens of millions of GEL annually on various programs, but it has failed to provide a significant number of new jobs in the country and improve the job market, '' Gigla Mikautadze said.
