Gov't Terminates $55 MLN Construction Contract With Azerbaijani Company Akkord

The Government of Georgia has terminated construction contract with the Azerbaijani company Akkord Industry Construction on the 25.6-kilometer section of the Moliti-Chumateleti road. The relevant decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers at today's meeting of the Government.

According to the Roads Department of Georgia, the project was financed by a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and its cost was GEL 54,566,117.

The construction company Akkord failed to fulfill its obligations within 900 days, due to which the government decided to terminate the contract with the company.

Akkord, was announced the winner of the tender announced in April 2018. A total of 13 international companies expressed their desire to build this section of the road.
