Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia held and led a meeting of the Investors Council within the Government Administration on Friday.

Meeting of the Investors Council, which was launched by the Head of Government of Georgia included welcoming remarks by H.E. Mark Clayton, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland along with Catarina Bjorlin Hansen, Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the Caucasus.

Giorgi Cherkezishvili, Secretary of the Investors Council of Georgia briefed the participants of the meeting about the performance of the Council and implementation of decisions made at the previous meeting.

Investment opportunities of the country were discussed and solutions to current challenges were considered at the meeting today. Current and anticipated economic projects of large scale that are being scrutinized by the Economic Team of the Government under the instructions of the Prime Minister were discussed in detail.

As the Prime Minister noted, the Government of Georgia is actively working on the improvement of the investment environment and support of partners towards this end is particularly welcome.

According to Irakli Garibashvili, significant progress has been achieved by the Government of Georgia in terms of solidifying the economy in the country and historic indicators have been achieved.

Participants of the meeting discussed the facilitation of international trade and stimulation of the renewable energy sector in the country.

Topics of discussion also included the engagement of the Investors Council in current reforms aimed at the EU integration of Georgia.
