The National Vaccination Plan notes, that 60% of population or 1,691,214 citizens above the age of 18 should be immunized during the year. The country must administrate 3,979,327 doses of vaccine to fully immunize those citizens.

When enrolling the National Vaccination Plan, the government relied deeply on the World Health Organization's COVAX platform, noting that 1,484,400 doses of vaccines should be shipped in the country in 2021.

As time has shown, this forecast turned out to be exaggerated, as WHO was able to deliver only a small part of the promised vaccines not only to Georgia, but to all its beneficiaries.

The vaccination process in Georgia started late, on March 15, 2021.

A total of 368,179 vaccinations have been administered in the country since then and 132,207 citizens or 3.54% of the population are fully vaccinated.

However, the vaccination rate increased in recent days and 11,073 doses were administrated yesterday.

It is easy to calculate how many vaccinations should be administrated per day to vaccinate 60% of the population above the age of 18 by the end of the year.

• 1,691,214 citizens must be vaccinated fully this year
• 132,207 citizens are fully vaccinated by now;
• 1,559,007 citizens should be fully immunized;
• 3,118,014 doses of the vaccine are needed to vaccinate those citizens fully;
• 164 days are left before the end of 2021;
• In the remaining days, 19,012 doses of COVID-vaccines should be administrated per day to immunize 60% of the adult population (For comparison, 11,073 vaccinations were given yesterday).

The International Monetary Fund calls on the Georgian government to "significantly speed up" the vaccination process. According to the organization, if a significant part of the population is not vaccinated, then the country's economy may find itself in a much more vulnerable position.
