The Interagency Coordination Council discussed the epidemiological situation in Georgia and the point restrictions imposed due to the rapid growth of the number of infected people at today's meeting, which was held in the format of a video conference chaired by Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia.

As the government administration informed bm.ge, the members of the council spoke about the growing dynamics of the number of coronavirus infections in the world, noting that despite the increase in coronavirus infections, the country maintains a strategy of using point and local approaches and no systemic restrictions are planned.

"Given the epidemiological situation in Georgia, the Interagency Coordination Council will additionally discuss a package of point restrictions, which will ensure a slower spread of the coronavirus. The council reiterated the need to strictly enforce the rules, including wearing a mask and keeping a distance, including during the political process, to help prevent the spread of the virus and avoid additional restrictions," the government administration said in a statement.

The council members also talked about the measures taken by the Ministry of Health on the instructions of the Prime Minister to avoid overcrowding in the hospital sector.

"It was noted that it is important to hospitalize only severe cases so that the system is not overloaded and the people who need treatment with specialized medical services in the first place are not left out. Mild cases continue to be treated at home with active consultation with family doctors. In contrast, infected people who do not have the ability to isolate themselves - are treated in covid-hotels, where, according to the Prime Minister's instructions, therapeutic elements are strengthened, and constant medical supervision is provided," the government administration said.

The Parliament of Georgia, chaired by Archil Talakvadze, and the Presidential Administration are actively participating in the Interagency Coordination Council's work headed by the Prime Minister.
