Around 150,000-200,000 daily transactions were conducted by Georgians via mBank of Bank of Georgia, as of October 2020. Mobile top-ups and peer-to-peer transfers are leading the remote transactions among Georgians.
The number of mobile app users of Bank of Georgia, one of the leading Georgian banks, already exceeds 1, 5 million.Around 150,000-200,000 daily transactions were conducted via mobile banks during Oct 2020. The daily figure varied around 100,000-150,000 as of Oct 2019, showing over 25% growth.
Contrary to mobile bank transactions, the figure stays stable in the case of internet bank transactions.
According to the Bank of Georgia, the average daily number of internet bank transactions was 10,000-15,000 as of Oct 2020. The data was similar during the same period of the prior year.
The list of top transactions with respect to the number, incorporates mobile top-ups, peer-to-peer transfers, utilities, telecommunication and internet, gambling, and financial payments.
The global pandemic accelerated the transition to digital banking, so far a further increase is expected in relation to transections via remote banking services. On its side, the banks are challenged to continue simplification and development of their online services.
