The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) published statistical information on the current condition of commercial banks' assets.
In January 2023, compared to the previous month, the total assets of Georgian commercial banks (in current prices) decreased by GEL 2.6 billion (or by 3.7%) and constituted GEL 67.7 billion (exchange rate effect excluded above mentioned indicator decreased by 2.7%).
The total volume of non-bank deposits in the country′ s banking sector decreased by 1.46% or by 648.73 million GEL (exchange rate effect excluded volume of deposits decreased by 0.44%), compared to the end of December 2023 and constituted 43.64 billion GEL by the end of January 2023. In January, the volume of term deposits increased by 462.59 million GEL (by 2.84%; exchange rate effect excluded volume of term deposits increased by 3.83%). Demand deposits decreased by 1.11 billion GEL (by 3.97%; exchange rate effect excluded volume of demand deposits decreased by 2.93%).
