Georgia needs deep-water port as an air, - Natia Turnava, minister of Economy and Sustainable Development has declared.
On the question, whether the state plans to terminate contract with the investor, the minister responded that he would not go ahead with the events, as the investor still has time.
“Given that there are a few days left before the deadline expires, I don't want to speak prematurely. Let's wait for the deadline and then a government team will be gathered to see what we can do to make this necessary project come to an end. The terms are changed upon the investor’s request since 2017. According to the initial term, the first phase should have been in order and we would have a deep-water port. Unfortunately, it has not been made so. This is a strategic project, you know what is happening in port and how they are loaded. Construction of Anaklia on time will be very helpful for us, let’s wait for the investor. Georgia needs deep-water port as an air”, Turnava said.
