"I urge the pharmaceutical companies one again to import high quality and cheap mediction from Turkey as soon as possible", - Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili stated at today's governmnet meeting. As he stated at the government session, the Georgian government opened the Turkish pharmaceutical market as promised, which, in their opinion, would significantly reduce the prices of medicines in Georgia.

"As promised, we have opened the Turkish market, we now expect importers to bring in quality and cheap medicines on time. We are monitoring this process, the Minister of Health Zurab Azarashvili is actively involved. I would like to once again call on importers to import these medicines as soon as possible, which, in our opinion, will greatly reduce the prices of medicines," Gharibashvili said.

Imports of pharmaceutical products from Turkey are allowed in Georgia since January 17.

Last week, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced that companies would be allowed to import, without further national authorization, all pharmaceutical products approved by Turkey.

Until now, Georgia’s list of countries, introduced in 2009, recognized regulatory pharmacy authorities of the EU and multiple other European states, the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.
