Catarina Bjorlin Hansen, EBRD Regional Director for the Caucasus evaluates Georgia’s investment environment with BM.Ge. According to her, Georgia is an interesting destination for international investors, but predictably, they are likely to go into observation mode and wait for the results of the elections.

According to the EBRD Regional Director, this is a typical event for democratic states and we do not have an alarming situation in Georgia.

"Of course, for international investors, Georgia is important, but given that elections are held in 2020, some investors may go into observation mode and wait for the results of the elections. This is a normal situation in every country. The similar processes take place everywhere, when elections are held,. This should not be perceived as a bad sign, as such events are characteristic of a democratic state", Hansen said.

To remind, according to Geostat, Georgia, Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted to 417.3 million USD in Q3 2019, up 13.7percent from the adjusted data of Q3 2018.
