There is no accelerated accession of any country in the EU, but we are working in all directions, - Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani told Rustavi 2, while evaluating the issue of Moldova-Georgia-Ukraine membership in the European Union.

"The public is very well informed in our government program. We have to apply for membership to the EU in 2024 and this is one of the top priorities of our foreign policy. Our steps and actions are completely tailored to that goal. Of course, we understand the Ukrainian brothers and colleagues, who are under ongoing aggression. We are in solidarity with them in terms of EU integration, and at the same time we are in active communication with our European partners.

Yesterday, when I spoke with Joseph Borrell, we not only talked about security challenges, but also about Georgia's possible European perspective. Just as the Prime Minister had a conversation with the EU Commissioner for Enlargement yesterday and one of the topics of conversation was the Associated Trio, Moldova-Georgia-Ukraine and the topic of our European perspective.

So let’s talk about that. We are in active communication. I want the public to know that there is no mechanism in the EU to expedite the adoption of any country, but given the geopolitical situation, of course, we are working on all possible scenarios and these steps must be agreed with our partners," Zalkaliani said.
