"We are working with the APM Terminals to specify the rights and responsibilities of the state and investors," said Natia Turnava, Acting Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
“APM Terminals is the number one container shipping company in the world. The company is implementing expansion of Poti Port. The construction permit for the first stage is already obtained, now environmental impact assessment document is being processed. We are working with the APM Terminals to specify the rights and responsibilities of the state and investors. This project will significantly increase the country's capacity, develop our port infrastructure and strengthen Georgia as a transit corridor, as well as create many new jobs," Turnava said.
However, APM Terminals plans to invest $ 250 to $ 300 million in Poti Port. According to the project, a new container and bulk cargo terminal (Bulk Cargo) should be built near the existing berth.
