Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili replaced economy minister Natia Turnava, with the reshuffle announced by prime minister Irakli Garibashvili at yesterday’s government meeting.

The newly appointed Minister of Economy, Levan Davitashvili, thanked the Prime Minister for the trust and support of the team, when it was necessary for the implementation of reforms in the Ministry of Agriculture.

He also thanked the former Minister of Economy, Natia Turnava, and noted that she had a difficult time as a minister.

"I would like to thank Mrs. Natia for her successful work as Minister of Economy, which, as she said, coincided with a difficult time. The pandemic changed the economic situation of the whole world and created special challenges in terms of economic development. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the great efforts of the Ministry of Economy, we could create economic recovery and returned to the pre-pandemic levels. However, we have very big tasks, plans and commitments with our population to show rapid economic development, to create maximum employment opportunities for our citizens, which is directly related to increasing their incomes and improving their welfare," - said Davitashvili.

Levan Davitashvili has been the Minister of Agriculture until now. He is at the same time the Vice Prime Minister, the position that he retains.
