In January-April 2023 motor cars claimed the first place in the list of top exporting items, equaling USD 595 million with 30.3% of total exports. The number of cars was 351% more compared to the same period of the previous year. Most of the re-exported cars are used, and the average price per car stood at USD 18,000. The record growth of car exports is related to the Russian sanctions, as the Central Asian countries began to purchase used cars from alternative suppliers (including Georgia). If the growth of exports is maintained at this pace, Georgian auto exports will reach a record USD 1.6-1.8 billion.

According to the countries, Azerbaijan is in the first place in re-export, where 11.7 thousand cars worth USD 150 million were re-exported. Kazakhstan is in second place, where 7,000 cars worth 135 million were exported, and Kyrgyzstan occupies the third position with 127 million.
