Imports Up By 19%, While Exports Up By 18.5% In 5M23 - Geostat

The National Statistics Office Of Georgia (Geostat) published the preliminary report on foreign trade for May 2023.

According to the document, goods worth USD 538 million were exported from Georgia in May alone, which is 3% or USD 15.8 million more than the previous year.

External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 8 360.0 million in January-May 2023, 18.9% higher year-on-year.

The value of export increased by 18.5% reaching USD 2.5 billion, while the import increased 19% and amounted to USD 5.85 billion.

The trade deficit equaled USD 3 359.4 million and its share in trade turnover constituted 40.2% in Jaunary-May, 2023.
