With 4,091,872 seats, the busiest airport in the world as of August 2022 was Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in the United States, reads the report prepared by Official Airline Guides (OAG), the world's leading aviation data and analysis provider.

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport was followed by Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with 3,454,604 seats and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in the U.S. 3,154,569 seats.

While Tokyo International Airport in Japan ranked fourth with 3,138,953 seats, Istanbul Airport ranked fifth on the list with 2,903,451 seats.

With 2,852,057 seats Chicago O'Hare International Apt is sixth in the list. It was followed by Denver Intl Apt (2,175,103 seats), London Heathrow Apt (2,094,646 seats), Los Angeles International Apt (2,089,482 seats) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport - 2,012,440 seats.

As for the busiest airports in Europe for August 2022, the list included:

London Heathrow Apt - 3,623,967 seats;

Paris Charles de Gaulle Apt - 3,472,358 seats;

Amsterdam - 3,154,969 seats;

Frankfurt International Apt - 3,110,719 seats;

Madrid Adolfo Suarez-Barajas Apt - 2,829,445 seats;

Barcelona Apt (ES) - 2,493,058 seats;

London Gatwick Apt - 2,252,198 seats;

Palma de Mallorca - 2,225,297 seats;

Munich International Airport - 2,102,561 seats;
