The Georgian government has decided to sell “a luxury helicopter bought ten years ago by the previous government” and buy three new ones instead, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced on Monday.
According to Garibashvili, the "Super Puma" helicopter does not meet the rescue specification and it is equipped with luxury items, that's why the decision was made to sell it.
“We will return the helicopter to its manufacturer, i.e. we will sell it and buy three new helicopters, which will benefit rescue operations.”
PM rejected the “speculations” that a luxury helicopter was used during rescue missions.
Interior Ministry and Finance Ministry are involved in the sale-purchase process, Garibashvili added.
