As of October 8, a total of 206,540 tons of grapes have been processed in Georgia’s Kakheti region, according to the National Wine Agency. Some 204,885 tons, or 99.2%, were classified as high- or medium-quality grapes, while 1,655 tons, or 0.8%, were low-quality or unripe.

Around 14,300 grape growers have delivered their harvest in Kakheti. The region’s total grape harvest is forecast at up to 320,000 tons this year.

The government has said that all growers will be able to sell their harvest in the event of excess supply. The Harvest Management Company is purchasing grapes from individuals in Kakheti under set conditions.

Saperavi grapes with sugar content of at least 20% are purchased for GEL 1.50 per kg, those with 16–20% for GEL 1, and those below 16% for GEL 0.50. For Rkatsiteli and other wine grapes, the prices are GEL 1.30 per kg for at least 19% sugar, GEL 0.90 for 16–19%, and GEL 0.50 for below 16%.
