Georgia’s State Procurement Agency has approved a request by the Harvest Management Company, operating under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, to directly purchase GEL 237 million worth of grapes from winegrowers for the 2026 harvest season.

The allocated funds will cover both grape purchases and the services of wineries involved in receiving and processing the harvest, as well as related expenses such as storage, transportation, equipment rental and banking services. According to the submitted document, the measure is necessary to ensure the smooth management of the 2026 harvest amid expectations of an increased surplus crop.

The company estimates that it will process between 8,000 and 9,000 tonnes of grapes per day in the Kakheti region, making it difficult to determine in advance the exact quantities of grapes and related services required.

The Harvest Management Company has already spent GEL 50 million on this year's harvest. With the additional GEL 237 million allocation, total planned spending for the 2026 harvest will reach GEL 287 million, GEL 40 million more than last year.
