Georgia’s state-owned Harvest Management Company has signed GEL 9.1 million worth of contracts with wine companies in Kakheti to receive grapes from growers during the 2026 harvest. As of September 29, nearly 113,500 tons of grapes had been processed in the region, according to the National Wine Agency.

The largest contracts were signed with companies belonging to the Bolero Group. These include GEL 200,000 with Bolero itself, GEL 600,000 with Universal Spirit and GEL 1.2 million with Gruzvinprom. Another major contract, worth GEL 1 million, was signed with Kotekhi Gurjaani Wine, a subsidiary of Dugladze Wine Company.

The government recently raised purchase prices for excess and lower-quality grapes and reduced minimum sugar-content requirements following heavy rainfall and protests by grape growers in Kakheti. Under the revised terms, high-quality Saperavi with sugar content above 20% is purchased for GEL 1.50 per kilogram, while Rkatsiteli and other varieties above 19% are paid GEL 1.30. Lower-quality grapes with 16–20% sugar content are priced at GEL 1 for Saperavi and GEL 0.90 for Rkatsiteli and other varieties.

For grapes with sugar content below 16%, the purchase price has been raised from GEL 0.30 to GEL 0.50 per kilogram. The 2026 Kakheti harvest is forecast at around 320,000 tons. Last year, the state spent GEL 246 million on subsidizing the grape harvest.
