A total of 20,000 vacancies were announced as the new Government-initiated public employment programme launched on March 1. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said 3,000 out of about 20,000 applicants had already been employed as part of the launch of the initiative that aims to offer jobs to up to 200,000 citizens eventually.
"From March 1, a large-scale employment program was launched for socially vulnerable people. As you know, our goal is to create tens of thousands of new public jobs. Minister of Health Azarashvili has been actively involved in this direction and as of today, 20,000 public job vacancies have already been registered. I would like to rejoice to our community that 3,000 out of 20, 000 applicants have already been employed. However, it should be objectively noted that such a result within three weeks of the start of the program indicates a very high interest in this program. Once again I want to appeal to our citizens to all get involved in this program. As many as socially vulnerable people should be involved in this program in order to earn more money and participate in building our country's economy and participate in many projects we will implement," said the Prime Minister.
