The government made public the EU Accession Questionnaire required by the European Commission to release its Opinion on granting the EU candidate status to Georgia.

Oliver Varhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, handed over the EU membership questionnaire to the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili in Luxembourg on April 11.

The 369 questions are divided into hundreds of sub-questions to which the Government of Georgia must provide comprehensive answers.

Among them, 75 to 135 questions are especially critical, which unites the reform of the justice system as a whole. This issue is also important as the EU itself has repeatedly stated its position on the problems in the Georgian judiciary and the delayed reforms.

"The first part of the special questionnaire on EU membership was handed over to Georgia on April 11 in Luxembourg. Based on the questionnaire, the European Commission will prepare an Opinion report on granting the country candidate status”, - the Georgian government declares.
